dvconnect provides free help for women, men, children and pets affected by domestic and family violence across Queensland.

What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic Violence is an abuse of power. It occurs when one person in an intimate relationship engages in behaviour that causes fear or harm to the other person.

This can include physical violence, damage to property, non-consensual sexual contact, financial control, emotional manipulation and abuse, or threats to commit any of the above.

Quick Fact:

On average, dvconnect's Women's Line speaks with 1000 women each month from all across Queensland, including in the Torres Strait Region.

Over half of these women will be seeking safe refuge accommodation in order to leave or escape abuse in their home or community.
